Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina / United States

A longboard surf community welcoming all ages and abilities, bringing surfers together on land and in the water while helping families and supporting education.

The club story.

The official About page says founding members wanted ocean camaraderie to extend to helping fellow surfers on shore. Its Waterman Hall of Fame announcement states that it was established in 1999; the former-president record also begins with Billy Curry that year. The site documents induction into the Wrightsville Beach Waterman Hall of Fame in November 2023.

Membership & community.

The official homepage invites newcomers to a meeting. On a second meeting, a member or sponsor nominates an applicant and another member seconds it. Annual membership payment is available online or at a meeting. This is not the separate Wrightsville Beach Board Riders Club.

The About page describes meals, financial help and educational scholarships for families in need. It links the Paco Strickland Scholarship and memorializes community members. Published community purpose is not a promise of open funding.

The beach & break.

Wrightsville Beach / North End heritage

The club is based in Wrightsville Beach; its memorial account associates former president Michael Whitmore with the North End. That is a documented personal tie, not an exclusive club home break.

Mailing address: P.O. Box 541, Wrightsville Beach, NC 28480. The homepage advertises meetings at Katys Grill & Bar on South College Road; verify each date directly.

Contests & events.

The homepage advertises first-Tuesday monthly meetings at 7 PM at Katys Grill & Bar, but adjacent text labels the change as 2025 and directs people to social pages for current updates. Treat it as the published pattern, not a verified next meeting. The News page checked has historic 2018 and 2023 items.

Athletes & heritage.

The official About page lists Shawn O'Donnell as president, Heidi Ziehm vice president, Jen Gallo secretary, Wes Robinson treasurer and Herb Walker sergeant of arms. Its memorial section honors Michael Whitmore, Paco Strickland, Michael Malone and Tiko Losano. These are documented community ties, not a selected current contest squad.

Sponsors.

The checked official pages describe community support but do not verify a current sponsor roster. Historic surfboard raffle and local museum recognition are not current commercial sponsorship.
