The surf program.

The Cougar Press described VHS surf activity on March 19, 2019, including coaching, competition and non-competing participation. NSSA supplies later 2026 state competition evidence. The old story is useful history, not a current enrollment, schedule or staffing policy.

Joining & eligibility.

The March 2019 story describes beginner-to-advanced participation and limited competition places for the then-upcoming 2019-20 season. Those old terms are not an open invitation today. Current school eligibility, grades, sign-up window, club versus competition selection, swimming checks, clearance, fees, equipment, parent consent and transport must be confirmed with the authorized adult operator. No enrollment, payment or student data is accepted here.

Community & support.

The 2019 school-newspaper story describes surfing with teammates, training heats, video sessions and dryland work. These are historical activities, not promises for a present season.

The beach & safety.

The 2019 story places then-practices at Ventura Point every other Saturday during August-March. The 2026 NSSA state event was at Seaside Reef in Cardiff. Past practice and contest sites are kept separate. Present schedule, meetup, transport, parking, beach access, adult supervision and conditions decisions: confirm before attending.

Contests & results.

NSSA published its 2026 state results on March 4 after the February 27-March 1 event. Ventura appears ninth in the high school varsity team scoreboard with 14 points. This is one dated division result, not a national ranking. The seed SSS Ventura-Morro Bay workbook now shows a 2026-27 title, so old season evidence is not reused as current scores.

Coaches & school ties.

The March 2019 Cougar Press article names Christian Brock and Jeff Belzer as coaches and points to Ventura Makos. No current surf appointment is inferred from those old names or a commercial camp website. The official VUSD-VHS school logo is used, not a surf endorsement. Student identities are omitted.
