United States / national network / United States

A national organization connecting local boardriders clubs through team competition, mentoring, philanthropy and surf-community culture.

The club story.

The official site describes USBRC as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with roots in West Coast Board Riders in 2016 and a network of more than 60 local clubs. Its 2024 event account names Casey Wheat, Ziggy Williams and Chris Moreno as early founders and says the national name followed Wheat's 2020 death. The official national logo says EST 2021. A federation press release dated July 7, 2021 announces the formation of US Board Riders Clubs as a California nonprofit corporation. This establishes the public national-organization announcement in 2021, distinct from its 2016 WCBR roots; an exact legal incorporation or renaming date remains unverified. This is an umbrella body, not one beach club. 2021 formation announcement

Membership & community.

Use the official Find a Club directory to locate a chapter and local club. Local membership, competition residency rules, dues and selection differ by club and season. No national individual price or universal benefit package was verified. Establishing a chapter and joining a local team are different requests. Current federation onboarding and eligibility documents: confirm directly with USBRC.

The official mission connects generations through friendly competition, mentorship and community programs. It describes youth development, environmental work and hosting visiting surfers. Donation language supports opportunities for surfers; this is not a claim that a particular scholarship, grant or tax deduction is available now.

The July 7, 2021 formation announcement reported 36 affiliated clubs across four chapters at that time. That is a dated organization-level affiliate figure, not a current individual-member total. Historical affiliate source

The beach & break.

National network / Lower Trestles championship ties

The body has no single home surf break. National event archives document Lower Trestles as a championship venue, while local chapters operate on their own coasts. The current contact section lists Huntington Beach and the footer retains a Laguna Beach address. Current mailing address and office access need confirmation; neither is a beach check-in.

Contests & events.

The official archive records 2023 and 2024 nationals and the West Coast Wheat Cup. Its homepage still promotes the 2024-25 season and May 18, 2024 competition. May 2026 Orange County Register reporting documents San Clemente's newer national title. Archived formats are dated, not assumed current rules.

Athletes & heritage.

The 2024 official account names San Clemente riders Kolohe Andino, Tanner and Pat Gudauskas, Nate Yeomans, Shane Beschen and Matt Archbold, and quotes Don Meek as board chair. The 2023 archive quotes Darren Brillhart as commissioner. These are dated roles and local-club athletes, not a national roster or current appointments.

Sponsors.

The 2023-24 official update names A New Earth Project as sustainability partner and nationals presenting sponsor, and SURFER as 2024 Wheat Cup presenting sponsor. It acknowledges Sun Bum, Yeti, FUEL TV, Rip Curl, Turtlebox and others for that season. Dated acknowledgments do not prove current contracts or Famous partnerships.

No Famous affiliation or endorsement is implied.
