The surf program.
The school reports a high school surf meet at Oceanside South Jetty on January 11, 2026 and individual SSS state-championship participation on March 23, 2026. September 2025 Times of San Diego reporting identifies the new surf PE teacher and competitive team coach. Surf PE and team competition are related but not assumed to have identical eligibility.

School news confirms competition participation but does not provide a complete current tryout or enrollment policy. Current school eligibility, grades, sign-up window, club versus competition selection, swimming checks, clearance, fees, equipment, parent consent and transport must be confirmed with the authorized adult operator. Community & support.
The official faculty page describes a school Blue Water Task Force that monitors ocean water quality and reports to Surfrider, plus a teen eco-steward partnership. This is school-wide environmental context, not proof that every surf-team member participates or that a volunteer place is available.
The beach & safety.
Oceanside South Jetty hosted the January 2026 school-reported meet. The school also places the March 23 individual state event in Oceanside. Neither event site is treated as a permanent practice beach. Present home break, meetup, transport, access, adult supervision and water-safety decisions: confirm through school staff.
Contests & results.
The school reports longboard and shortboard finalists at its January 11 meet, and two qualifying students at the March 23 individual SSS championships. Individual participation is not a team championship. The seed Division 5 workbook now displays a 2026-27 title, so seed 2025-26 results are not promoted as current.
Coaches & school ties.
Official January and March 2026 posts identify Brogan O'Bryan as surf coach. The faculty page lists him as PE and ESL teacher and athletic coach, hired in 2025; September 2025 reporting describes surf PE and high school team duties.
