Sunset Cliffs Surfing Association
Famous team wax program
Sunset Cliffs Surfing Association members get 20% off Famous products with the club code.
Famous supplies wax to surf clubs and teams. Every team gets its own code: 20% off surf wax, traction and apparel, shared by a coach, captain or club officer. How the program works.
Ocean Beach / Point Loma, California / United States
A Sunset Cliffs surf community connecting local surf history with youth competition, beach care and neighborhood fundraising.
The club story.
Point Loma Nazarene University's 2020 Viewpoint history dates the association to 1951 and attributes early membership context to past president Rick Van Woy. The Coalition lists Sunset Cliffs separately, and the association's Gromfest website carries a 2026 club copyright and official mark.
Membership & community.
The Gromfest FAQ admits competitors age16 or younger who live in Ocean Beach or Point Loma or are SCSA members. All must register in advance; no beach entry is allowed. Those are event rules, not the club's full membership policy.
The event site describes family competition with an OB Town Council crafts fair, beach cleanup and member volunteering. Published beneficiaries include Mouse Scholarship, Point Loma High School Surf Team, Big Worm's Cystic Fibrosis and other local organizations. A November 2020 Ocean Beach association notice documents support for Big Worm's holiday gifts after that year's event cancellation.
The beach & break.
Sunset Cliffs community / Gromfest at OB Pier
The historical community centers Sunset Cliffs, while the 2026 Gromfest website names Ocean Beach Pier as the event venue. Do not substitute cliff access for the youth-contest check-in. Current permits, safe entry, pier condition, parking and next event check-in: confirm with organizers.
Official beach guideContests & events.
The homepage lists Gromfest August 8, 2026 at7am, OB Pier. That date has passed; a remaining registration button does not prove new availability. The FAQ says the contest normally ends by4pm and a nonjudged Super Grom parent-assisted heat runs11-11:30am; other divisions must paddle into their own waves.
