The surf program.

The official school Surf Team page lists Scholastic Surf Series participation. It combines a March 2024 results heading, a 2026-27 tryout notice and a coach section explicitly headed 2025-26. Those dates are kept separate rather than treated as one current roster. OC Catholic reported an inclusive school surf culture in May 2015, which remains historical context.

Joining & eligibility.

The official page announces 2026-27 tryouts on September 11, 2026 and asks interested athletes to complete a registration form. That date has passed at this review, so the profile does not present it as upcoming. The school publishes surf@smhs.org for questions. Current enrollment window, eligible grades, selection, swim checks, clearance, dues, equipment, consent and transport must be reconfirmed. No student enrollment is accepted here.

Community & support.

The school describes its coaches goal of an inclusive and fun surf community for experienced surfers and those interested in trying something new. A May 2015 OC Catholic story documents a similar recreational emphasis, but its old coach, team size and practices are not current policy.

The beach & safety.

The 2025-26 Orange County SSS sheet labels contests at Bolsa Chica and San Clemente Pier, among other sites. Those are dated league venues, not a permanent practice break. The older 2015 article says there was no formal practice schedule then; that is not adopted as todays schedule. Current beach, meetup, transport, parking, access, supervision and water-safety decisions: confirm through the school Surf Team.

Contests & results.

The 2025-26 SSS Orange County table records Santa Margarita losing 63-25 to Dana Hills in the opening matchup and 48-39 to Crean Lutheran in the final listed matchup. Its final overall record is 0-5, distinct from individual discipline records. This is a dated season, not a current team ranking. The school pages March 2024 heading and passed September 2026 tryout are not new fixtures.

Coaches & school ties.

The official page names Jim Robison and Isaac Huerta as its 2025-26 coaches and describes them as school teachers and lifelong surfers. The same page has newer tryout wording; current season appointments should still be confirmed at the school surf email. The primary SM school mark comes from the official communications page, not the separate surf-team art or SSS league logo.
