Santa Cruz, California / United States

A Santa Cruz boardriders community bringing local surfers together for club trials, regional team competition and hometown connection.

The club story.

The WCBR-hosted club page identifies Santa Cruz and publishes its club banner and leadership panel. A Santa Cruz Vibes account describes local trials and community competition, but its relative seven-years-ago origin is not converted into an exact founding year. The current WCBR site links a Santa Cruz URL that returns a missing-page message, so the older hosted page is used with its date limits.

Membership & community.

The club page has a Join Club button without a usable destination. The Vibes account describes membership, local trials, meetings, fundraisers and club gear, with team selection earned through trials. Current dues, sign-up route, residency rules, age divisions and season benefits: confirm with the club. League rules are not automatically treated as a settled current chapter policy.

Local reporting describes trials as a way for surfers from across Santa Cruz to come together, rather than remaining at separate breaks. Meetings and fundraisers appear in that account.

Santa Cruz / local trials and regional contest venues

Santa Cruz Vibes documents local club trials and a regional event at The Hook. The 2025 Sentinel report places the Wheat Cup at Lower Trestles. These are event sites, not a single exclusive home break.

Contests & events.

Santa Cruz Sentinel reported third place in the May 2025 Wheat Cup and qualification for the U.S. championships. It gives a team total of 215.08. This is a verified historical result, not a 2026 placing. The current WCBR Santa Cruz link is broken.

Athletes & heritage.

The May 2025 Sentinel report names Austin Smith-Ford, Nat Young, Shaun Burns, Matt Myers, Josh Loya, Peter Mel, Shane Desmond, John Hunter and other division riders. The older WCBR club panel names Anthony Ruffo head coach, Darryl Flea Virostko vice president, Matt Myers captain and Christina LoFranco media/member operations. Roles and riders are dated or undated source ties, not confirmed current selections or Famous endorsements.

Sponsors.

The older leadership page assigns Brian Waters to sponsorships, but a sponsorship role is not a sponsor contract. Employer email domains on its panel do not prove a brand backs the club.

No Famous affiliation or endorsement is implied.
