Famous team wax program
Pacific Beach Surf Club members get 20% off Famous products with the club code.
Famous supplies wax to surf clubs and teams. Every team gets its own code: 20% off surf wax, traction and apparel, shared by a coach, captain or club officer. How the program works.
San Diego, California / United States
A Pacific Beach surf club built around friendship, surf etiquette, coastal care and inter-club competition at Tourmaline and along the California coast.
The club story.
The official history says the first club began in summer 1956 with Pacific Beach Junior High surfers and founding president Bobby Thomas. The homepage instead says 1957. Both document the revival in 1994; the founding-year conflict remains unresolved. The revived club was led by Glenn Paculba, with Torrey Palacio as founding treasurer.
Membership & community.
All skill levels are welcome, including longboard and shortboard surfers. The current payment page lists individual membership at $40 per calendar year and an extra family member at $20; lifetime individual membership is $500. A free Friends tier does not include competition-team eligibility. Confirm rates and benefits with the club before paying; membership and payment pages should be read together.
The club documents beach cleanups, surf clinics, youth learning and support for schools, veterans and local charities. Its history describes aid to the Pacific Beach Library, lifeguards, WildCoast and the Surfrider Foundation. It is a member of the Coalition of Surfing Clubs.
The beach & break.
Tourmaline Surfing Park / Pacific Beach
Tourmaline is the documented location for the Summer Longboard Classic and autumn Club Challenge. The club history also names Law Street as an early favorite break. These are club-published location links, not a promise of wave conditions or a reserved surf area.
Monthly meetings are published for the first Thursday of each month, 7-8pm, at 751 Turquoise Street, San Diego, CA 92109. This is the listed meeting location, not a claim of a permanent owned clubhouse. Confirm before visiting.
Official beach guideContests & events.
The homepage lists the 16th Annual PBSC/Cardiff Surf Club Tourmaline Club Challenge for October 3-4, 2026 at Tourmaline, and a Pablo Smith Memorial pool tournament on October 3. Its separate Surf Contests page shows no events, so confirm current status and entry directly. The meetings page lists November 5, 2026, 7-8pm as the next monthly meeting after this October 2 check.

It also records honorary memberships for local legends including Skip Frye and Larry Gordon in 1995. These are heritage links, not a current competition roster.
