Mira Costa High School
Famous team wax program
Mira Costa High School riders get 20% off Famous products with the team code.
Famous supplies wax to surf clubs and teams. Every team gets its own code: 20% off surf wax, traction and apparel, shared by a coach, captain or club officer. How the program works.
A Manhattan Beach co-ed surf program described by its booster organization, with separate varsity and junior-varsity results in the 2026 NSSA state event.
The surf program.
The MBX Foundation surf page describes approximately forty-five student athletes in a year-round co-ed cut sport, with girls and boys practicing together and competing in separate divisions. The published approximate count is not a verified present roster. It describes shortboard and longboard participation and a September-March season. The NSSA 2026 state results list varsity and junior varsity separately within one school.
Joining & eligibility.
The MBX page publishes May tryouts and says no soft foam boards. These are undated published guidelines, not confirmation of the next tryout date or an open place on the team. Current student eligibility, selection, swim and skill checks, athletic clearance, fees, parental consent, equipment and transport must be confirmed through the school and booster route. A competitive cut sport is not an open beginner surf lesson.
Community & support.
The booster organization provides a public surf support route. An older MBX post describes a Nicaragua spring-break trip, including a school visit, reading and donated shirts, hats and sporting equipment. The post is historical activity without a confirmed date in the fetched text, not a present trip or recurring service promise.
The beach & safety.
The MBX page publishes Monday-Friday school-year practice from 6:30-8:00am at 26th Street in Manhattan Beach, with league contests at beaches from Torrance to El Porto. This is published program information, not a real-time meetup or assurance that conditions permit surfing. Present schedule, approved arrival point, transport, parking, adult supervision and water-safety checks: reconfirm before attending.
Contests & results.
The March 4, 2026 NSSA state results list Mira Costa seventh in high-school varsity with 19 points and seventh in junior varsity with 22 points. Those event placements are not a current national ranking. MBX describes selected surfers attending state and national championships, but future selection and entry are not assumed.
Coaches & school ties.
The official school staff directory names Tucker O'Shia as Surf Head Coach, and the MBX page names him as head coach alongside coach Steve Meidroth. These are public adult source roles checked October 3, 2026, not confirmation of a present event assignment. Student names and personal student contacts are omitted.
Sources & open questions.
Checked October 3, 2026. Historical SSS figures reflect the earlier 2025-26 source read. Published SSS workbook links are reused and now show newer 2026-27 grids; those links are not permanent archives or current rankings. Confirm current entries and fixtures with the school and league. Public-source profile, not a school endorsement. Old seasons and results remain dated. Current operating details require the school or authorized adult program operator.
