The surf program.
Dated Newsday reporting says the team was founded in 2010 by teacher Danny Bobis. January 2022 Patch reporting describes regional travel and beginner-to-advanced participation, with older squad counts that are not copied as present totals. This school is New York, not Long Beach California or another state. Its campus is 322 Lagoon Drive West, Lido Beach.
Joining & eligibility.
The official district athletics page provides team registration instructions, a physical-health form, parent permission, health-history and concussion resources. These are general school-sports routes, not a verified open surf tryout or exact club requirements. Current surf operator, grades, selection, clearance, ocean skills, fees, equipment, consent and transport need school confirmation. No enrollment or student data is accepted here.
Community & support.
The 2022 report describes using the local ocean as a learning resource and surf-therapy activity for life-skills students. These are dated school-program accounts, not a current therapy service, supplier endorsement or signup.
The beach & safety.
A campus or past contest beach is not a current meetup. Confirm approved location, transport, consent, swim and surf skills, supervision, weather and ocean conditions with the authorized adult operator. No unsupervised session, booking or standing invitation is offered here.
Contests & results.
The 2025 NSSA Northeast entry list carries LONG BEACH NY. It is dated affiliation, not a full-sized squad count or current result. The 2022 report describes a fifth-place regional finish, not a present ranking.
Coaches & school ties.
January 2022 Patch reporting names Cliff Skudin and Anthony Balsamo as coaches. The current school homepage names Balsamo as a vice principal, which does not confirm he still coaches surf. The displayed starfish artwork comes from the official high-school header; it is institutional branding, not a verified surf-team mark. Student identities and personal contacts are omitted.
