The Lahaina Lunas, whose girls won the 2026 MIL season title, with surf-program history documented back to the league's first sanctioned 2014 season.

The surf program.

A May 2014 Lahaina News account records Lahainaluna's girls winning the first sanctioned MIL season and the boys finishing third, with Luke Adolfson identified as first-year coach. A 2023 account records both teams third under Andy Claydon. In 2026 the girls again won the MIL season title. These are dated milestones, not a claim that every intervening season or exact founding date is documented. The school campus is at 980 Lahainaluna Road.

Joining & eligibility.

The current school website links Athletics, the athletic director and Physical/Medical Forms. Do not send families to the old forms link as if working or invent present clearance requirements. Use the current school athletic-director route to obtain the correct packet and surf-season instructions. Current surf eligibility, grades, tryouts, selection, clearance, water-safety checks, fees, equipment, parent consent and transport must be confirmed with the school. No enrollment, payment or student data is accepted here.

Community & support.

The 2023 team account thanks families, parents, athletics staff and league support, including help during a Hana competition trip. The June 2026 coach interview describes support from the coaching staff. These are dated team ties, not an active volunteering offer, donation collection or verified ongoing service project.

The beach & safety.

The school campus is not a surf meetup. HHSAA identifies the May 1-2, 2026 state event at Hookipa Beach on Maui. That past event does not establish a current practice beach. Current beach, access, supervision, transport, water skills and ocean-condition decisions must be confirmed with the authorized adult operator. No standing meetup or unsupervised practice is offered here.

Contests & results.

April 2026 local reporting confirms the Lahainaluna girls' MIL season title and final meet win at Lahaina Harbor. Liveheats lists girls with 2770 and boys with 1060 points at the May state event. Those combined-table points are not renamed official girls/boys team standings. A league girls title is not a state team title; HHSAA identifies Waialua as the girls state champion.

Coaches & school ties.

A June 18, 2026 Maui News report names Andy Claydon as MIL Coach of the Year after his sixth season as Lahainaluna coach and quotes him acknowledging Lara Claydon and Zane Schweitzer. Earlier reports name different staff in 2014 and 2023; those are not mixed into a current lineup. Current 2026-27 appointments require school confirmation. The displayed seal is official school branding. Student identities and personal contacts are omitted.
