Kulanihakoi High School
Famous team wax program
Kulanihakoi High School riders get 20% off Famous products with the team code.
Famous supplies wax to surf clubs and teams. Every team gets its own code: 20% off surf wax, traction and apparel, shared by a coach, captain or club officer. How the program works.
Kihei's Manta Rays, with a school-listed surf coach and a boys MIL entry at the 2026 state event.
The surf program.
The school athletics pages use the name Kulanihakoi High School and the campus address 901 Piilani Highway, Kihei. The school staff directory lists a surf coach, while the state record uses Kulanihakoi HS - Boys (MIL). A March 2025 local report describes the surf program in its second year. That dated account does not settle an exact founding date or current team size.
Joining & eligibility.
The official Athletics Forms & Videos page provides a parent-athlete handbook, physician-completed physical evaluation, parent consent and concussion forms for DOE-sponsored sports. Families are directed to the school office, athletic director or athletic trainer for submission. This is a school clearance route, not a Famous sign-up or an announced surf tryout. Current surf eligibility, grades, tryouts, selection, clearance, water-safety checks, fees, equipment, parent consent and transport must be confirmed with the school. No enrollment, payment or student data is accepted here.
Community & support.
The official athletics page provides a school support route and an athletics gender-equity complaint route. A March 2025 local report records the girls placing fourth at an MIL meet in the program's second year. That competition account is not a verified beach cleanup, community-service project or equipment grant.
The beach & safety.
The school campus is not a surf meetup. HHSAA identifies the May 1-2, 2026 state event at Hookipa Beach on Maui. That past event does not establish a current practice beach. Current beach, access, supervision, transport, water skills and ocean-condition decisions must be confirmed with the authorized adult operator. No standing meetup or unsupervised practice is offered here.
Contests & results.
Liveheats lists Kulanihakoi HS - Boys (MIL) with 670 points at the May 2026 state event. A March 2025 report records the girls fourth at the opening MIL contest, a different season and event. Neither is a current signup or title claim. A boys state entry does not prove a girls state entry or full-sized squad.
Coaches & school ties.
The official athletics staff directory lists Emily Benedetto as Coach - Surfing and Mike Watson as athletic director. The HHSAA directory leaves boys and girls surfing appointments TBA. The school listing is preserved with that source difference, not turned into a guaranteed 2026-27 assignment. The displayed manta-ray artwork is the school header mark, not verified surf-team artwork. Student identities and personal contacts are omitted.
