The surf program.
The official school special-programs page lists boys and girls varsity surfing, and its athletics site maintains a surf page with earlier team titles. April 24, 2025 Maui Now reporting documents both MIL team titles that season. General school athletics since 1995 and MIL membership since 1996 are not a surf-team founding date.
Joining & eligibility.
The official athletics homepage requires current concussion management, physical examination and assumption-of-risk forms submitted directly to trainers before participation. It says physicals are valid for one calendar year. The school programs page gives general academic eligibility. Neither establishes a current surf tryout or ocean qualification; reconfirm the present surf process. Current eligibility, grades, sign-up dates, competition selection, swimming checks, clearance, fees, equipment, consent and transport must be confirmed with the authorized adult operator. No enrollment, payment or student data is accepted here.
Community & support.
The official athletics site documents school sport traditions and the 2025 report shows team celebration after the MIL final. These are not proof of a current surf cleanup, charity partner, mentoring program or equipment fund. School apparel links do not establish a surf sponsor.
The beach & safety.
The April 2025 report places the final MIL team contest at Hookipa Beach Park. HHSAA also places the separate May 2026 state event at Hookipa on Maui. Sharing a venue does not establish an ongoing school home break or open practice. Present beach, meetup, access, transport, supervision and conditions decisions: confirm through the school operator.
Contests & results.
Maui Now confirms the schools boys and girls MIL titles in April 2025. Liveheats separately records King Kekaulike HS Boys (MIL) with 2,181 points and Girls (MIL) with 1,325 at the May 1-2, 2026 state event. The two seasons and competitions are not merged or promoted into a state team title. The combined club table is not labeled official team standings.
Coaches & school ties.
The official surf page lists Thomas Rouse and Scott Schellhammer as head coaches in separate boys/girls sections, alongside older title lists. April 2025 reporting calls Schellhammer co-head coach and captions Mirabai James as a coach. These are dated or differently scoped roles, not a confirmed current coaching lineup. Verify current assignments through athletics. Student identities and personal contacts are omitted.
