The surf program.

This record is the Hawaiʻi Island campus, not Kapālama on Oʻahu or Maui. Its official athletics site lists a varsity surfing team and a boys/girls Surf coach. Campus histories and coaches from other Kamehameha schools are not transferred here.

Joining & eligibility.

The official campus sign-up page labels 2026-27 and lists Surf with a sign-up route for current haumāna and new invitees. It says the link opened in April, which is not a confirmed current selection deadline. Participation requirements say students must be signed up and cleared before tryouts, with a physical every 13 months uploaded to the school health portal. Use campus guidance, not another island's packet. Current surf grades, selection, clearance, ocean skills, fees, equipment, parent consent and transport need confirmation from the school or authorized operator. No enrollment, payment or student data is accepted here.

Community & support.

The Hawaiʻi campus provides athletics staff, health support and lifeguard leadership. These are institutional resources, not evidence of a surf-specific service event or sponsor agreement.

The beach & safety.

The campus is not a surf meetup. Current practice beach, permission, transport, parent consent, water skills, weather and ocean-supervision decisions require the school or authorized adult operator. A reported past event beach is not a standing invitation or current safety plan. No unsupervised session is offered here.

Contests & results.

The 2026 HHSAA state-championship source lists this school affiliation. It establishes dated state-event representation, not a complete league membership list or full squad size. Student identities and individual results are not copied.

Coaches & school ties.

The live Hawaiʻi campus coaching directory names Solomon Ortiz for Surf (Boys/Girls). It names Kimo Weaver as athletics director and Emily Wilson as lifeguard lead; general roles are not additional surf coaches.
