The surf program.

The present Kahuku athletics page lists boys and girls varsity surfing among spring sports. June 2024 Hawaii News Now reporting separately describes the earlier surf club and its planned NSSA national trip, before surfing became an HHSAA sport. Club history and the later sanctioned school season are distinct. HHSAA confirms Kahuku as the May 2026 boys team champion.

Joining & eligibility.

The current athletics page limits school sports to grades 9-12 and requires enrollment, physical and risk forms, trainer clearance, financial clearance and coach signatures before tryouts or workouts. These general athletics steps do not replace surf-specific swimming checks, qualification or selection. The surf tryout date was not established. Current school eligibility, grades, sign-up window, competitive selection, ocean checks, clearance, fees, equipment, parent consent and transport must be confirmed with the authorized adult operator. No enrollment, payment or student data is accepted here.

Community & support.

The June 2024 HNN report describes community fundraising for Kahuku and Waialua surf travel, including a car wash and sales at a North Shore surf shop. That was a dated grassroots effort, not an active fundraiser here. The current school athletics page displays football donation support; it is not relabeled surf funding.

The beach & safety.

The North Shore campus and community identity do not establish an authorized surf practice break. HHSAA places the May 2026 title event at Hookipa Beach on Maui. Current practice beach, meetup, transport, beach access, adult supervision and conditions decisions remain for the school operator.

Contests & results.

HHSAA explicitly names Kahuku the BOYS Team champion at the May 1-2, 2026 state championships. Liveheats separately records Kahuku HS Boys (OIA) with 3,150 points and Girls (OIA) with 1,165. Individual-tagged rows are not added to those figures. The official title comes from HHSAA, not an inferred rank in the combined club table.

Coaches & school ties.

The current school 2026-27 coaches page links a CoachesList PDF naming Trenton McCullough for Surfing Boys/Girls. June 2024 HNN reporting separately identified him as surf club coach. The current school list is the appointment evidence, not the older news item. A legacy staff URL now returns a browser 404 after the school-site migration, so its adviser entry is not used as current. Reconfirm assignments through school athletics. School artwork is a school mark only, not a surf-team endorsement. Student identities and personal contacts are omitted.
