The surf program.
The school April 2025 season report describes growth in participation and commitment under Gino Ragusa and Patrick Murphy and competitions at Army Navy Beach. A March 2026 school update again reports SSS competition and a planned state-championship group. These establish dated program activity, not a founding date or current season signup.
Joining & eligibility.
The official athletics site publishes surf as a coed sport. A result report does not establish open enrollment, fees or tryout rules. Current eligibility, clearance, swim assessment, squad limits, equipment, travel, parent consent and roster selection need the school to confirm.
Community & support.
The April 2025 report emphasizes team chemistry, experience and commitment across several events. This is school-published program context rather than proof of a current volunteer or scholarship scheme. No affiliation with Famous is established.
The beach & safety.
The athletics site lists 5555 Del Mar Heights Road, San Diego, CA 92130. April 2025 and March 2026 surf reports identify Army Navy Beach in Carlsbad as a contest venue. That does not make the school campus a surf launch point or establish a permanent home break.
Contests & results.
The April 2025 school report records matches against Coronado and Woodrow Wilson, both losses, at season close. A March 2026 update describes February and March contests and plans for state championships. These are dated reports, not a future calendar or proof of current entry. The 2025-26 SSS source names Cathedral Catholic in Division 3.
Coaches & school ties.
The official staff directory checked October 4, 2026 lists Gino Ragusa as Head Surf, Coed and Patrick Murphy as Asst. Surf, Coed. The separate tryout page lists both as head coaches and publishes surfing@cchsdons.com as the surf contact; the differing role labels are retained rather than silently reconciled.
