The surf program.
The official Surfing page presents surfing as part of the schools outdoor culture. It describes a winter program for novices and students already comfortable in the waves, with morning sessions and weekend trips. The January 29, 2026 school report documents a competition trip to Ventura. These sources establish program context and dated activity, not a founding year or a guaranteed place in a competition squad.
Joining & eligibility.
Cate describes its surfing program as suitable for novices and skilled surfers. That description is not a waiver of swim checks, supervision, permission or school enrollment requirements. Current co-curricular sign-up, prerequisites, competition selection, fees, equipment, consent, transport and water-safety assessment: confirm with the school. Joining the outdoor program and representing Cate in contests are different steps.
Community & support.
The official outdoor program describes co-curricular activities and weekend trips, with surfing among the options. This gives surfing an educational and community setting rather than only a competition identity. No present outreach project is invented.
The beach & safety.
The official Surfing page names the coast from Ventura to Goleta and includes Rincon Point as local context. The school publishes 1960 Cate Mesa Road, Carpinteria. These are geographic references, not invitations to an unsupervised session. Daily beach choice, meeting point, transport, conditions policy and adult supervision must be confirmed with the program.
Contests & results.
The January 29, 2026 school report describes the seasons final competitive fixture at the Ventura Fairground. The 2025-26 SSS Los Angeles-Santa Barbara table records Cate team matchups, including a 27-26 win over Oaks Christian and a final 1-4 team record. Recreational surfing opportunities and team scores are kept separate. No student names or individual results are shown.
